Persistence of soil organic carbon caused by functional complexity: New Nature Geoscience ‘Perspectives’ Paper

Publication

A new concept, put forward by an interdisciplinary group of soil scientists and mathematical modellers looks at soil carbon persistence through the lens of functional complexity of the soil microbial ecosystem – the interplay between time and space in soil carbon’s changing molecular structure, and proposes that this is key for long-term C storage in soil
